UPP City South Candidate deFreitas makes donation to Fiennes, saying he will not wait to be elected to meet the people’s needs

Franz deFreitas, the United Progressive Party’s Candidate for St. John’s City South, has spread some goodwill among the residents and staff of the Fiennes Institute through a generous donation.

As the days draw nearer to the yuletide season, deFreitas is wasting no time in bringing comfort to the residents of the Government-run geriatric institution.

On Thursday, October 21, he gifted them with a range of toiletries; mobility aids, such as walkers; and personal-care items, all of which were received through the generous support of nationals in the Diaspora and at home.

DeFreitas says he says he will not wait until he is elected to public office to ensure that the people’s needs are being met.

Accordingly, he says his donation is in fulfillment of a promise to constituents – and to the nation – “to develop a functional, caring and cohesive community in St. John’s City South.”

The UPP Candidate hopes the much-needed supplies, equipment and devices will help to make the Fiennes residents more comfortable.

A socially conscious person, deFreitas says he intends “to foster an environment of collaboration and compassion across [the] community,” and the country on a whole, starting with this donation to the old-age home.

He plans intends to advance his outreach through other social and developmental programmes that are already operating in the community.

DeFreitas hails from City South, and his vision is to develop a well-trained, modern, functional, cohesive and innovative constituency.

“Our campaign understands that the basis of any community development and expansion starts at the foundation … recognizing that the greatest and most important resource of any community is its people,” he says.
