SINGLE NEW INFECTION BRINGS ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES TO 10, WHILE SECOND-DOSE VAXXERS JUMP TO MORE THAN 11,000

One new case of the COVID-19 virus has been recorded for May 26, even as active cases continue to decline.

Health officials say the single positive case was realized after 72 samples were processed at the Mount St. John Medical Centre.

The Ministry of Health, on its most recent dashboard, has indicated that total lab-confirmed infections stand at 1,259, with only 10 cases now active.   There are no hospitalized cases, and 11 people are in isolation.

Health Minister Molwyn Joseph says there are about 60 people in quarantine at the Government-run centre, and confirms that those using the facility are required to pay a nightly fee of $82.

Meanwhile, over 32,000 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  The number of people receiving their second dose has dramatically climbed to over 11,000, and Joseph says he is pleased about this.
