Police are renewing their public appeal for vigilance after two separate property crimes — a home burglary involving three intruders in Green Bay and a phone theft in Joseph Lane — added to a persistent wave of property offences being recorded across Antigua and Barbuda.

Green Bay Home Invaded, Jewellery and Valuables Taken

The more serious of the two incidents occurred shortly before midnight on Monday, June 29, when three men allegedly forced their way into a residence in Green Bay occupied by a woman. The intruders ransacked the home before fleeing with a quantity of gold jewellery, silver chains, a cellular phone, a handbag, and a jewellery box. Police have not indicated how entry was gained or whether the occupant was confronted, and no arrests have been made.

Phone Stolen in Broad Daylight in Joseph Lane

In a separate incident on Tuesday afternoon, a Samsung Galaxy A22 cellular phone valued at approximately EC$650 was stolen in the Joseph Lane area. The theft is reported to have occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. The two incidents are not believed to be connected, but police said they underscore the importance of protecting personal property in everyday situations.

Renewed Safety Advice from Police

The incidents have prompted the Royal Police Force to issue renewed advice to residents and members of the public. Homeowners are being encouraged to keep doors and windows secured, particularly at night, and to consider investing in security lighting, cameras, or alarm systems. Members of the public are also being advised to avoid displaying expensive jewellery unnecessarily and to keep mobile phones and other valuables within sight at all times.

Police further recommend that owners maintain records of serial numbers and identifying information for valuable items, noting that such details can be critical for investigators attempting to trace and recover stolen property.

The two incidents add to a pattern of property crime that has been running alongside the more dramatic violent offences dominating recent headlines in Antigua and Barbuda — including home invasions, chain-snatching robberies, and business burglaries that have been recorded across multiple communities over the past several weeks.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, the nearest police station, or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 800-TIPS (8477).
