A Tyrells man who is currently before the High Court on a serious armed robbery charge has added a fresh set of criminal charges to his legal burden, after being arrested in connection with a break-in at a Lower All Saints Road business last month.

Tristan Armstrong, 34, of Tyrells, is now facing charges of Breaking and Entering, Larceny, Malicious Damage, Resisting Arrest, and Escaping Lawful Custody in connection with an incident at Turki and Son Store on Lower All Saints Road.

The May 29 Break-In

Police responded to a report of a break-in in progress at the store on May 29. Among the items allegedly stolen were eleven 43-inch JVC televisions, a 32-inch Royal television, two power drills, a vacuum cleaner, and a tool kit. All stolen items were later recovered by police. As previously reported, the swift police response to the scene — while the break-in was still underway — prevented the stolen goods from being removed from the premises.

An Armed Robbery Trial Already Underway

Armstrong is no stranger to the courts. The 34-year-old is currently before the High Court facing charges of armed robbery in connection with an incident dating back to October 2021, in which he is accused of robbing Bailey's Supermarket in Falmouth of an undisclosed sum of money.

That attack allegedly took place as the owner arrived at the business that morning, and during the incident gunshots were reportedly fired. Armstrong was later found in an abandoned house in Piccadilly, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged.

Armstrong is now expected to appear in court to answer to the new charges stemming from the Lower All Saints Road break-in.

The case serves as a stark illustration of the challenge facing Antigua and Barbuda's criminal justice system — and the communities that depend on it — when individuals facing serious criminal proceedings continue to allegedly engage in criminal activity while their cases wind through the courts.
