CXC says reports of a leaked examination are a hoax and candidates should check its official sites for updates

The Barbados-based Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has dismissed
reports that an examination has been leaked as a hoax.

On Tuesday, May 7, CXC refuted these reports, which apparently have been
circulating on social media.

The Council said that these attempts to spread false information and create
panic among candidates preparing for examinations are unacceptable.

Some of the exams started in April; however, the sittings officially began in
earnest this week. Accordingly, CXC urges candidates to visit its website
(www.cxc.org) or social-media pages for official news and updates.
While these reports are said to be fake, this is not the first time that CXC has
been accused in such a scandal.

In 2022, there was a leak of several examination papers to students in
Jamaica. The incident reportedly occurred at the Steer Town Academy in St
Ann Parish.

That examination centre became the centre of an investigation by the
Overseas Examination Council (OEC) following the allegations.

As a result of the probe, the school’s principal, examinations coordinator, an
acting grade supervisor, mathematics teacher and a special education teacher
were placed on leave on the directive of the school board.
