Health Ministry confirms 43 new virus cases and 72 recoveries, keeping active infections below thousand mark

Hospitalized COVID-19 cases have dropped from over 50 to 48, with 10 now being considered severe. 

Following the release of a dashboard on Thursday, September 30, the Ministry of Health says 28 people are exhibiting mild symptoms and 13 are moderate. 

Meanwhile, 74 samples were processed at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and 180 at the Caribbean Public Health Agency, from which 43 positive cases were realized for Tuesday, September 28. These took active infections to 946. 

Therefore, Antigua and Barbuda’s total lab-confirmed COVID-19 infections stand at 3,231. 

There have been 72 recovered cases, increasing that figure to 2,206. 

In the meantime, pursuing the Government’s goal of community immunity – which targets 80,000 persons – 42,427 individuals have been fully vaccinated and 9,444 have received their first dose. 

Therefore, the authorities say that at least 30,000 adults and children between 12 and 17 years old still require vaccination.
