COVID-19 VARIANTS IN THE CARIBBEAN ARE A SOURCE OF CONCERN TO DR. SIMON, PARTICULARLY AS THEY AFFECT THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY

As the country gets set to welcome back cruise ships, and with a 50 percent reduction in taxes being offered on regional travel, Dr. Lester Simon is concerned about the coronavirus variants that are turning up in the Caribbean.

Dr. Simon, who heads the National Technical Working Group on COVID-19, reveals that at least one variant has been found in Antigua & Barbuda, while all four have been found in the region.

He says that more studies are being conducted on the strain discovered here, as well as to determine whether other variants are on island, as well.

Health officials should provide the public with relevant information on this issue, Dr. Simon says.

Dr. Simon says the risk being posed to the travel industry is greater.  Therefore, with the reopening of the cruise tourism sector, the authorities have to ensure that proper protective mechanisms are put into place.

Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the pictures on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? With thanks
