THE COUNTRY’S VISITOR SET TO INCREASE FOLLOWING RETURN TO LEVEL 1 RANKING BY THE CDC, SAYS DEAN FENTON

US Director of Tourism for Antigua and Barbuda Dean Fenton says Antigua and Barbuda’s Tourism will be given the required boost now it has been returned to a Level 1 travel ranking for COVID-19 infections.

The US’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) earlier this week moved Antigua and Barbuda from a previous Level 3 ranking to the lowest level categorization.

Fenton, speaking on state television, says travelers have already expressed excitement at returning to the destination.

According to Fenton, the CDC categorization did cause some harm in persons feeling safe to travel to the island.

He says, however, that the number of tourists who will be coming to the island should increase, which will augur well for the economic recovery.

Antigua and Barbuda was moved to Level 4 after its COVID-19 active infections increased from over 200 in February to over 400 in March.

Active cases are now down to three.
