XPZ SUPERMARKET DESTROYED DESPITE SIX-HOUR BATTLE BY FIREFIGHTERS IN AN INFERNO THAT OFFICALS REGARD AS ‘SUSPICIOUS’

One of the country’s popular supermarkets, XPZ International, was destroyed by fire early this morning, June 1, and fire officials are describing the incident as suspicious.
 
The early-morning inferno, which reportedly began some time after 2 a.m., caused the roof and other parts of the Sir Sydney Walling Highway business to collapse.
 
Fire officials quickly responded to the scene and battled the blaze for well over six hours. Photos and video footage show that, up until after 6 o’clock, the fire was still raging; however, it is now smoldering, reports say.
 
Fire Chief and Assistant Commissioner of Police Elvis Weaver spoke about the situation on the Good Morning Sass Show.
   
 
Weaver says that another building located on the premises was also damaged. Reportedly, persons were residing in the building, but no one was injured.

And, despite early reports to the contrary, Yao (pronounced Yow), the yogurt factory just east of the supermarket, was not burned, REAL News has learned.
 
The Fire Chief says there are suspicions about how the fire started, based on the distance of the other building from the supermarket.
   
 
The flow of traffic on the highway was impacted as firefighters fought to extinguish the blaze; therefore, motorists had to be diverted through Piggotts and Potters Villages.
 
Meanwhile, as firefighters battled the supermarket fire, another set of firemen responded to a call in Liberta, where a house was ablaze.
 
Weaver says there was no electricity attached to the abandoned house, and, fortunately, no neighbouring property was impacted by that fire.
 
The Fire Department head expects that the next few months will be very busy for his department, given that the country will be in the dry season.
