FURTHER DECISION ON CURFEW WILL COME AFTER EASTER

The Ministry of Health has given some positive indication that the virus numbers are ticking downwards – though not enough to revise the curfew hours at this stage, says Information Minister Melford Nicholas.

Therefore, a further decision will be made on the hours after the Easter holiday.

Meanwhile, there were no further vaccinations on Tuesday, March 23, thus leaving the total at 25,687.

Addressing the vaccination progamme, Nicholas says the Government is waiting for 14,000 vaccines through the COVAX facility, and these should arrive by the end of the month.  At this time, he says, the public campaign will resume.

Ironically, during today’s sitting of the Lower House, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said he expects the COVAX-sourced vaccines to arrive sometime in April.

Meanwhile, if the Government fails to meet its 27,000 goal through the vaccination of front line workers, it will resume with the vaccination of the most vulnerable persons, he says.
